HistoryMakers (Recognition Program) & Employee Connections

HistoryMakers is our employee recognition program, which makes it incredibly easy to recognize your colleagues for a job well done. With HistoryMakers, you can publicly say everything from “Thanks” to “Great job” to “You’re truly outstanding.” With Employee Connections, you can build new connections with other members of the Ancestry family while working remotely.

Recognition Program

HistoryMakers has two kinds of recognition—one with points to reward standout colleagues, and one without points to recognize those small but wonderful acts we see every day. Both types of recognition are shared on the HistoryMakers site, because recognition is more powerful when it’s public.

Standout

Recognize an exceptional colleague who really lives by our values—Pioneer relentlessly, Empower each other, and Be customer obsessed.

Shoutout

Recognize a colleague who has done something small but wonderful. Shout Outs don’t come with points. They’re just a fun way to publicly recognize someone who’s gone above and beyond.

Employee Connections

Working remotely looks different for everyone, and for some it has introduced a new set of responsibilities and challenges. Being physically apart from our friends and our colleagues can be challenging while working remote. Many of us miss the hallway chats with colleagues and the ability to meet new people, which all contribute to our collaboration and innovation at Ancestry.

With this in mind, we’re thrilled to introduce Employee Connections, formerly known as Coffee Chats. This program helps address the challenges that come with being remote and allow employees to build new connections with other members of the Ancestry family.

Employee Connections randomly pairs Ancestry employees from diverse backgrounds and roles who might not have met otherwise in their typical day to day. Once paired, you two can meet virtually to get to know each other. Help us recreate those water cooler moments with no water cooler needed!

Employee Connections has so much more to offer. Here are some of the changes and enhancements:

  • A new member landing page gives you a snapshot of current, upcoming, and past connections you’ve made
  • Mark connections as ‘complete’ once you’ve made them on the new member landing page
  • Free to talk about whatever is on your mind

Here’s how it works:

  1. Check your email for an Employee Connections invite, from here you can opt-in
  2. Log on to the HistoryMakers website
  3. From the Newsfeed, view available Connections on the Connections widget on the right-hand side of the screen and get started
  4. You will receive an email notification on the 1st day of every month to participate in the next round. You will need to opt-in to participate each month.
  5. If you had opted-out at any point and would like to opt back in, please complete this form.
