Life insurance provides important financial protection for you and your family.

Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance

Ancestry provides you with a base level of employee life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance at no cost to you. This coverage provides a benefit of three times your salary, rounded to the next highest $1,000, up to $1 million.

Supplemental Life Insurance

To supplement the coverage provided by Ancestry, you can purchase additional additional life insurance for yourself as well as for your spouse and children.

Employee Coverage

You can choose coverage from one to seven times your annual compensation (rounded to the next $25,000), up to $1 million.

You are eligible to request up to $250,000 voluntary life during your 30-day new hire period. If you decide to waive supplemental life insurance during your new hire period, you will be required to provide evidence of insurability for any amount you choose.

This coverage is tied to your employment with Ancestry and typically ends if you leave the company. In some cases, you may be able to retain this coverage with the same insurance carrier after you leave Ancestry.

Spouse/Domestic Partner Coverage

If you enrolled in employee coverage, you can purchase spouse or domestic partner supplemental life coverage in $25,000 increments, up to $250,000.

To enroll for spouse or domestic partner supplemental life coverage, you must be enrolled and approved for employee supplemental life coverage. Your spouse is defined as the person who you are legally married to under state law, including a same-sex spouse.

Your domestic partner is eligible if you meet the following:

  • Have executed a domestic partner affidavit, establishing that you and your partner are domestic partners for purposes of the policy, or
  • Have registered as domestic partners with a government agency or office where such registration is available and can provide proof of such registration.
  • Have executed a domestic partner affidavit, establishing that you and your partner are domestic partners for purposes of the policy

No extensions! After the November 15th deadline, you can only change your benefits elections if you experience a qualifying life event, such as a marriage or the birth of a child. Changes must be made within 30 days of the qualifying event. It’s your responsibility to complete your benefits elections by the November 15th deadline. We cannot make any exceptions if you miss the deadline, select the wrong plan or level of coverage, or fail to enroll the correct dependents.
